Sandy Springs Festival Partners with Kid’s Day America for 1st Health Expo September 17th-18th
Sandy Springs Festival is proud to partner with the first Kids Day America/International in Sandy Springs. This partnership fulfills a need for t he community by providing a Health Expo to the public. “This Health Expo brings together health, safety and the environment to show how an individual or family can live a healthier, happier life right here in Sandy Springs,” said Megan Webb, Festival Director. The Health Expo is included in admission to the Festival and found near the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Hitson Center next to Gate 6 of the Festival, near the Mt. Vernon Highway/Sandy Springs Circle intersection.
Kids Day America/International is a national program instituted by chiropractors. It educates the children on the importance of health, safety and the environment. “This common denominator brought our two groups together for the Health Expo,” said Webb. Dr. Brandon Kassinger of Sandy Springs Miraculous Health Chiropractic said, “There’s a need to extend chiropractic wellness care to families, especially children, worldwide.” Kassinger is the momentum of Kids Day America/International in Sandy Springs. “By using preventive care, children can combat many common elements that commonly hinder growth, development and happiness,” stated Kassinger.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in two sporting events hosted by Sandy Springs Festival: the Doug Kessler Lightning 10K and The GreenTour. Doug Kessler Lightning 10K is held Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. It is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier attracting over 1,000 runners annually. For information or to register, log on to www.sandyspringsfestival.com or www.active.com . The GreenTour, produced by Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc., is a recreational bike ride through Sandy Springs providing three levels of distance and challenge. It is held at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit www.thegreentour.org . Both sporting events are open to all ages.
Both morning events conclude with ceremonies held in the Health Expo. At that point, the athletes are able to have individual time with the health experts participating in the Health Expo. Then, during regular Festival hours, the general public can participate in the same Expo. “A variety of companies are involved, from magazines to health products, and doctors to tai chi. For example, with the help of Kids Day America, the Fire Department is bringing a ‘smokehouse’ so children will be able to practice crawling out of a fire,” stated Webb.
Sandy Springs Festival is the largest annual event in Sandy Springs. It is open on Saturday, September 17th from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 18th from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
